OK, I'm now 3/4 of the way through the third Smash Labs episode and I conclude that it sucks. It is stupid, pointless, and a waste of time, who do I call for a refund?
My guess is they wanted something like MythBusters, but without the science, experience, and entertaining hosts. They take a stupid problem, think up a couple equally stupid solutions, and then prove they don't know wtf they are talking about.
Here is a silly meme from Darrell.
Create your own album cover!
Step 1: Go to Wikipedia’s random article page. The first article you get is the name of your band.
Step 2: Go to the Random Quotations page. The last four words of the last quote is the album title.
Step 3: Go to Flickr’s Interesting photo page. Third picture, no matter what it is, is your album cover.
Step 4: PROFIT! (Okay, actually, you take those three elements and combine them using your favorite image editor, and voila!)
Here is my result:
"Foodways" with their new album, "balance and keep afloat"!
Sorry for not posting this weekend. The family and I went down to New Braunfels to help Mark move into his new digs and to visit with some good friends.
We all had dinner at Friesenhaus for some great German food. I also stopped at HEB to pick up some Pale Rye Ale and Brewhouse Brown Ale from the Real Ale Brewing Company in Blanco, TX. It is hard to find Real Ale outside the Hill Country and impossible to buy beer in Hunt country so I try to stock up when I'm traveling.
Genetically Modified Reddit is a Greasemonkey script that I wrote to automate the task of voting up and down the things I like.
Get it here: gmreddit.user.js
You will need to install greasemonkey first. Once installed, you can manage user scripts and edit the arrays at the top of the file to include your keywords.
The script checks for down votes first and skips the up vote if it finds any. Adding more keywords might affect performance, but it runs fine on all my machines.
I'd really like to know just how many people will buy snowshoes from Dick's Sporting Goods in Rockwall Texas.
Today in North Texas there were a few scattered snow flurries. On the channel 11 news they explained why it did not impact traffic...
"It wasn't cold enough, the snow fell on the grassy areas."
It is good to know that. Growing up in Iowa I had always assumed the snow fell where it pleased. It must not have been warm enough to constrain it to the grassy areas.
CrunchGear » Archive » MacBook AirHead: why Apple’s new laptop is basically useless
First, let me just say that the Air is an extremely impressive piece of technology. The miniaturization, the optimization of space, the blatant disregard for current standards — it’s everything a revolutionary machine should be. Except it isn’t one. It’s a flight of Apple vanity that is completely impractical for anyone who needs to do more than the most basic functions with their computer. Find out why inside.
Mac fans should turn away now, the rest of you can click through for an accurate review of the Macbook Air. My take on it all. It's fancy, expensive (on par with the Dell tablet), and horribly under powered.
